III.VI. Growing Up

Cein didn't like sitting in the room with the other ghost girl and he cried loudly for his parents. She scared him - he didn't know her and she was cold.

The Queen's Pregnancy was progressing well. She wasn't having too bad a time with it and that made everyone in the royal household happy. She did crave alot of weird foods however and Claire and Song struggled to keep up with what she wanted to eat.

Claire and Song were happy together yet. Find each other had been the best thing that had happened for them and they realized they would have never gotten this far by themselves.

On the rare occasion they had some time after their work was done, they would spend what little time they had with each other.

Before long a small party gathered for the young prince. It was family only - meaning only his aunts and uncles with their own children were in attendance. Song baked a cake for him and Claire decorated it.

The future King made a wish and his mother helped him blow out the candles and then sparkles surrounded him.

He grew up handsome and well rounded, dressing in the royal colors. His father pointed out tha this wings were even red - one of the two royal colors of the kingdom. Prince Charles just smiled and said "Of course, it means Our Lady is always watching over the family"

It wasn't much longer until the Queen went into labor one night, walking back to her room from tucking the Prince into bed. She was near the nursery so she made her way there so she might give birth in a safe place.

Another son! Our Lady be praised! She named him Alexander and it was an ease on the King's mind to know should anything happen to him and Charles, there was another strong son to take his place.

It was only a few short days later that Cein had his birthday as well. His parents were there to clap along and celebrate with him this time, however.

He grew into a striking young lad who looked very much like his father. Claire had never been so happy to have her little family. Her son was so handsome, just like her Song.

But other thoughts loomed in her mind - like why she was so violently ill all of a sudden. The last time she was so ill, she was carrying Cein. Panic blossomed in her heart. As much as she wanted another child, she was not ready just yet. She had Cein and the ghostly child to look out for. She didn't know if she could bear another mouth to feed.

Cein watched the winged boy play the piano. He had heard his mother play and this boy was nowhere near as good as her. Still, he seemed to be trying.

"Maybe you need lessons" He suggested as he entered the room. The boy gave a huff.

"I'm the Prince. I don't need lessons"

"Not quite princely to be bangin' on the piano, now is it?"

The other boy rose, floating before Cein. It looked like he was just showing off though. Cein just grinned at him.

"Why don't we play a little game?"

The Prince seemed hesitant but...

Soon the two were giggling and laughing.

Before the week was out, Cein and Prince Charles would be best friends and inseparable. It would be a friendship that lasted them their whole lives, much to their parents shock. But Claire and Song would insist that boys would be boys - and they were both certainly trouble makers.
