I.IV. Sickness

Time seemed to pass quickly for Rebecca after that. She spent alot of nights in the library until the early morning, trying to learn all she could. She needed to be knowledgeable to ensure her children would be ready to take on the Royal family with her. Of course, if that was not the life they wanted to live, she would not force it onto them.

As morning began to break, when most of the town would be waking and moving about, William was fishing far from any houses. He worried for Rebecca, who said she would be along promptly as soon as she realized the time. The mist of the early morning was beginning to be burnt away by the sun and yet his wife had yet to make her appearance.

Just as he was preparing to go in search of her, he saw her come running down the path. He grew nervous, worried she was being followed but he saw that was not the case. She trotted over to him, gave him a kiss and moved on her way to harvest some apples from a nearby tree so she could have some breakfast.

She didn't stay long, only long enough for them to talk of their next meeting place before she once more moved off. While their new love was still very strong, they felt them being in the same place at the same time would only attract more attention.

Rebecca spent some times trying to and failing to catch some bugs. She knew they weren't completely useful but they might make a few dollars in selling them to the researchers down at the science and wizard's hall. They were always preforming odd experiments.

With that being a fruitless venture, she decided to turn back to fishing. It wasn't the quickest way to make money but it was working well enough. They were gathering more by the day. It had been William's idea to bribe some guards to look the other way. It would take alot of money he warned her. She had to admit, she knew it wouldn't be easy but she hadn't been expecting it to be quite this hard either.

She fished through the morning but in the afternoon she began to feel quite ill. She dropped her pole and placed her hands against her stomach, wondering what she had eaten that had disagreed with her so?

She ended up bent over, throwing up what little was in her stomach. After the fact, she couldn't force herself to eat again as her stomach was still tossing and turning, feeling uneasy. She knew she should go to a doctor but she was too frightened of being caught by the town guard. She distracted herself with more fishing and soon enough, time worn down. She had to be going to meet William in today's agreed upon spot.

She got there first and decided to try her stomach again. She had only found a few berries today and roasted the smallest one she had upon the fire. She had no idea if it would taste good or not but it was worth a try.

The small bitter berry actually did help her stomach quite a bit, making it stop churning so much. It led her to believe that she had just eaten a bad apple that morning. Some problems were really simple to fix.

William arrived some time later, Rebecca having already set up the tent and laid down to rest. He didn't realize she was so tired and he worried a little about her. He didn't know if she wasn't feeling well or if she was just tired. He made a mental note to ask her when morning came.

After putting the fire out and before the sun even set, he climbed into the tent with her. He wasn't even tired yet, but he knew the sooner he slept, the sooner they could rise and be on the move once more.

Rebecca was up earlier than expected though, feeling ill once more. Whatever was wrong with her stomach was really beginning to bother her. She crawled back into the tent and tried to sleep. The next few days she had to spend resting. She was feeling extremely ill.  She could hardly keep a thing down. William worried and watched over her, the best he could.

Slowly over time she seemed to get better but he noticed a slight fear in her eyes. She seemed to look over her shoulder all the more, as if someone were watching them. That didn't make his worry go away any.

One day, after washing up at a local watering hole, they decided to watch the stars together. Perhaps they should have spent their time traveling or doing anything else, but they had been so stressed lately, a relaxing was a luxury.

"Have you heard that Queen Elizabeth is expecting?" He asked her and she smiled a little. Her fingers brushed against her stomach.

She leaned close to him and whispered in his ear "So are we"

He looked at her in shock, beyond words at the moment. She was expecting? He would have never thought of the day he became a father. He looked at her stomach, yet flat and then back to her eyes. She smiled at him and he kissed her sweetly. They were going to be parents! He knew it would be hard, but he could not contain his excitement. It was a wondrous time and he couldn't wait to meet their child.
